Stefan Mäder has been a member of both the Board of Directors of La Mobilière Holding Ltd and the Investment and Risk Committee since 2017. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of La Mobilière Cooperative Company since 2013. Thanks to his long-standing activity on these committees, Zurich-born Stefan Mäder is very familiar with the strategy, business model and corporate culture of La Mobilière.  

Active as an independent Board member 

Stefan Mäder completed a PhD at the University of Zurich in business and economics and started his career as an economist at the Swiss National Bank. He then switched to Zurich Insurance, where he held various management functions, most recently as Chief Financial Officer for the Europe Region. In 2010 he moved to Swiss stock exchange operator SIX Group as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Board. Since resigning in 2017, Stefan Mäder has been active as an independent Board member. Alongside his office as a member of the Board of Directors of La Mobilière, he also holds mandates elsewhere, including at Schroder & Co. Bank AG and Compenswiss, Swiss Federal Social Security Funds OASI/II/IC.  

“The Board of Directors firmly believes that Stefan Mäder brings with him the abilities, skills and long-standing experience to ensure the further successful strategic development of La Mobilière,” says Chairman of the Board of Directors Urs Berger. “We have found him in previous years to be a person of integrity who acts in a considered and strongly strategic manner.” Stefan Mäder will use the transition year to prepare himself optimally for taking over as Chairman of the Board of Directors.  

Assumption of BoD Chair planned for spring 2023 

Urs Berger took over the management of La Mobilière as CEO in 2003 and following a comprehensive restructuring put the company back on a sustainable growth path that it has continued to pursue to this day. By introducing an innovative distribution system, Urs Berger laid the foundation for the strong positioning of the 80 general agencies among customers in all regions of Switzerland. In 2011 he was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors and consistently developed further the Board’s personnel and professional skills. Urs Berger will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Mobilière until the Delegates’ Assembly on 12 May 2023.
