Michael Christen is succeeding Sven Rump as Head of Asset Management and member of the Executive Board. The experienced insurance asset manager will take over on 14 August 2023.

Sven Rump (65) will be retiring at the end of the year following a long and successful career and nine years as Head of Asset Management and member of the Executive Board of la Mobilière.

The Board of Directors of la Mobilière Holding Ltd. has chosen Michael Christen (47) as his successor. He worked in various management functions for Zurich Insurance Group from 2005 until 2018, most recently as Chief Investment Officer of Zurich Switzerland.

Michael Christen will take over the management of the Asset Management business division on 14 August 2023. Sven Rump will then focus on chairing the Board of Directors of SwissCaution in the next few years and for the time being support the further development of the CredEx mortgage platform and la Mobilière’s venture capital enterprise Lightbird.

Under Sven Rump’s leadership, Asset Management has made a significant contribution to la Mobilière’s business success in recent years. Sven Rump and his team have driven forward both the targeted consideration of ESG criteria in investments and the further development of risk management and development of new products: these include the launch of the la Mobilière mortgage, proactive insurance-linked savings plans and the One Invest instalment-based product in close collaboration with Pensions.

CEO Michèle Rodoni: “Under the leadership of Sven Rump, la Mobilière’s Asset Management team has consistently achieved an extremely competitive investment performance – even in economically challenging times. We wish him all the best for his retirement.”

Michael Christen brings to la Mobilière a wealth of experience as an asset manager. Following his time at Zurich, he became self-employed around five years ago and founded Quantula GmbH, a consultancy firm for institutional investors. He also launched SuperScript, a start-up in the technology sector, in 2018.

Michael Christen currently holds various mandates in the life insurance and pensions business. He will gradually reduce these mandates when he starts at la Mobilière. Michael Christen studied business and economics at the University of Basel and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

“Michael Christen brings with him extensive experience and broad specialist knowledge in the investment sector. I am delighted that he is switching to la Mobilière and have every confidence that our Asset Management division will remain sustainably successful under his leadership,” says CEO Michèle Rodoni.
